If you love spending time outdoors, or entertaining in your backyard, you might want to seriously consider upgrading to outdoor appliances. Keeping a refrigerator, grill, sink, ice maker, wine fridge, etc. can make your time outdoors a lot more convenient. When you have these appliances handy outside, you don't have to worry about running into the kitchen and then back out to the yard again when you are trying to entertain or spend time with your family. Ever missed that perfect sunset because you were running inside to finish up dinner? That can be pretty frustrating.
Outdoor appliances can be built into a bar or countertop against your back wall. You don't want your outdoor appliances to be the focal point of your yard or garden. Rather, they should compliment your outdoor setting by providing you with subtle, and useful, luxuries.
Considering where to put your grill is pretty important. Think convenience and ventilation: where is the smoke going to go? Do you have some counter space close to the grill? Some of the newer grills include their own burners, and eliminate the need for an oven because you can actually use them to bake. This allows you to cook a number of different things in one space.
Outside appliances, especially sinks and refrigerators, are usually made in a sleek stainless steel finish. You don't have to worry about your outdoor kitchen appliances not matching, or looking dirty or rusted. Just make sure when you are shopping to verify that your appliances are approved for outdoor use. Some items look that way, like smaller refrigerators, but when you actually put them out there, they will rust or freeze up.
